In my organization, our nurse manager is one who believes that each employee is equally important. As such, she allows everybody to make a presentation before making a decision on any issues. Indeed, she has created an environment wherein she ensures that she collects ideas, feedback, and information from the staff before she can give a verdict on a matter. Also, she believes that whatever decision she makes should not hurt a member of the nursing staff. These are the hallmarks of democratic leadership.

According to literature, a democratic leader is one who makes their employees feel ownership of a decision. That the nurse manager allows all of us to make our contributions before she can make her decision speaks to her democratic nature. By doing that, she makes us feel that we own the decision (Coonan, 2007; Giddens, 2015). Also, in addition to soliciting for feedback using the above-mentioned methodologies, she calls employees to seek their opinions on various matters. She also holds private discussions with each employee to provide confidentiality. Further, she also supports teamwork, high morale and is charismatic. As an individual, I would definitely integrate the open-door policy, honesty, fairness and support high morale and teamwork. Further, I would also integrate charisma to my work so as to motivate employees. However, I would not support private discussions with employees as that may send the wrong message.
